Many of my 2015 blog posts will be dedicated to explaining the history of golf instruction - the ups and downs, positives and negatives that have occurred over the past 30-40 years. My reason for writing about the history is that many of the golfers I have talked to recently have taken dozens of lessons during the 80's and 90's and have not improved at all. In fact, many have gotten worse. The use of overly detailed video analysis and the invention of many swing methods have really muddied the waters of golf instruction and confused players. Golf lessons used to be simple and effective because they focused on impact and ball flight, rather than on swing positions. Today, however, swing positions and the overall look of the swing have become more important than the effectiveness of the swing, which has made many players play worse and some to even quit the game.
My goal is to be part of the next generation of teachers who can help return golf to a simpler time, allowing golfers enjoy the game more than ever.
More to come... MW
