Golf Tip #4 - Aim Correctly

A common problem area for golfers is aim or alignment.  Most of us have heard that you should aim your club face at the target and your feet on a line parallel to the club face, or “parallel left”.  I find that many players, however, do not see parallel lines correctly.

If you look at the orange rods I have positioned in these pictures, you will see that they don’t look parallel.  They look as if I have set them down with the target end of the rods closer together than the ends with the white paint. They are, in fact, parallel.  Just as railroad tracks look different on the horizon than on the ground in front of you, these lines look strange as well.

To practice aligning correctly, I suggest placing one rod, (or club) aimed directly at your target and then place the second one on the ground parallel to the first. By placing the first rod on the ground pointing directly at the target, you will have one line correct for sure.  You will always know that at the worst, you are aiming 2 feet away from your target.
